FGD - Mag-On-Demand To assist industries requiring lime for flue gas desulfurization, Chemical Lime has "MAG-ON-DEMAND"® - - a high quality, quicklime product with a controlled, variable magnesium oxide content. Our technical teams work with system designers and operators to achieve the correct blend of high calcium and dolomitic quicklimes required for each application in order to provide maximum FGD performance and lower FGD system operating costs. Ladle Blends In meeting the chemical requirement for various grades of steel, blends of various limes and other materials (fluorspar, etc.) are generally added directly to the molten metal ladle - commonly known as "ladle metallurgy". These products and technical service can be furnished by Chemical Lime as part of our overall commitment to the metallurgical market. Steel Blends In today's modern steel-making facility, the initial melting and steel finishing steps are separate operations. For the initial melting step, various ratios of dolomitic and high calcium quicklimes are blended by Chemical Lime prior to delivery and use to meet the optimum MgO requirements for this stage of the steel-making process. These MgO ranges from 2-5% found in normal high calcium quicklime to the upper 40's found in high quality dolomitic quicklimes. Delivery sizes vary from 1 ton "Super Sacks" to rail-car quantities. Similarly, ladle blends are more customized and can include of chemicals besides lime. Further, these may be pre-blended or blended on the spot from bulk storage facilities containing the various ingredients. In short, Chemical Lime can directly provide or assist in obtaining these important steel-making chemicals.
